NOW Foods Astaxanthin is a food supplement providing 4 mg of natural astaxanthin in each veggie softgel. What is astaxanthin?

Astaxanthin is a reddish-orange natural pigment belonging to the carotenoid group, the same family of substances as beta-carotene and lutein. In nature, astaxanthin is produced by certain microalgae, one of the best known being Haematococcus pluvialis. This single-celled freshwater alga is the source of the astaxanthin in this product. Through the food chain, astaxanthin also ends up in salmon, shrimp and other marine animals and gives them their characteristic pinkish colour. Because astaxanthin is fat-soluble, it is dissolved in olive oil in the softgel. Because of the natural raw material, the colour of the capsule contents may vary slightly from batch to batch, which does not affect product quality.

How to use?

Take one softgel 1 to 2 times a day with food. As astaxanthin is fat-soluble, it makes sense to take the softgel with a meal. The maximum daily amount is therefore two softgels, or 8 mg of astaxanthin. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Do not eat the freshness packet enclosed in the bottle. Keep the softgels in the original bottle, close it tightly after use and store it in a cool, dry place.
