Now Foods Turmeric Curcumin is a food supplement in vegetarian capsules, each containing 665 mg of turmeric (Curcuma longa) root extract. The extract is standardised to at least 95% curcuminoids, which amounts to 630 mg of curcuminoids per capsule – curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. What are turmeric and curcumin?

Turmeric is a perennial plant of the ginger family, grown mainly in South and Southeast Asia. Its underground rhizome gives the well-known bright yellow spice that has been used in South Asian cuisine for centuries both as a seasoning and as a food colouring – turmeric is, for example, an important ingredient of many curry blends. The yellow colour of turmeric comes from curcuminoids, the most abundant of which is curcumin; the rhizome also contains demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Ordinary turmeric powder contains considerably fewer curcuminoids, whereas the extract in this product is concentrated and standardised to at least 95% curcuminoids. No nutrient reference value has been established for curcuminoids.

How to use?

Take one capsule 1–2 times a day with food and swallow it with a glass of water or another drink. If you take two capsules a day, divide them, for example, between breakfast and dinner. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount. If you also use other food supplements containing turmeric or curcumin, add up the amounts. If you have any history of liver, gall bladder or gastrointestinal problems, be sure to consult a physician before use. After opening, keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
