Pro Tan Single Show Competition Color Mini Kit is a single-event competition colour kit with everything you need to do your own stage tan: a skin-prepping exfoliator, an overnight base coat, a show-day top coat, a posing oil and an applicator. Pro Tan has made competition colour for bodybuilding and fitness events since 1987, and the same system is used by backstage tanning teams around the world. The kit also includes the manufacturer's step-by-step D.I.Y. infographic, so a first-time competitor can get the result without a technician.

Every bottle is travel size (each under 100 ml), so the kit fits in carry-on luggage and is ideal for travelling to events abroad. It comes in a resealable zip bag and is sold as a single unit; items cannot be substituted.

• Pro Tan Overnight Competition Color Base Coat, 100 ml (3.4 oz) – the original Suntan Brown self-tanning base coat applied the evening before the show. Streak-free, applies evenly, dries quickly and fades like a natural tan after 5–7 days.
• Pro Tan Instant Competition Color Top Coat, 50 ml (1.7 oz) – ultra-dark mahogany bronzing mousse (formerly Bikini and Physique Bronze) applied on the morning of the show for instant competition colour.
• Show Shine Ultra-Light Competition Posing Oil, 30 ml (1.0 oz) – ultra-light dry oil with natural oils, formulated for bright stage lights: highlights muscle definition and eliminates blind spots created by the light.

One kit covers one competitor for one show. Because the base coat result depends on preparation, the manufacturer recommends starting Get Buffed a week before the show and building a natural or sunbed base tan at least two weeks beforehand.

How the system works

The evening before the show you exfoliate with Get Buffed and apply the whole bottle of Overnight Competition Color base coat with the applicator sponge; it darkens overnight. On the morning of the show you add the Instant Competition Color Top Coat mousse for the final dark stage tone, and just before stepping on stage you finish with Show Shine posing oil. After the show the colour fades within days like a normal tan, leaving a natural brown tone.
