SCIVATION Xtend – BCAA drink with L-glutamine, L-citrulline, vitamin B6 and minerals

Scivation Xtend is a flavoured drink powder containing the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine in a 2:1:1 ratio, plus L-glutamine, L-citrulline, vitamin B6, magnesium and potassium. One scoop of powder provides a total of 7 g of BCAAs and 2.5 g of L-glutamine. The drink is prepared with water and sweetened with the sweeteners sucralose and steviol glycosides. Xtend is one of the best-known BCAA products and comes in many flavours. The container holds approximately 90 servings; the net weight of the powder depends on the flavour and is 1270–1330 g according to the EU label. The manufacturer (brand owner) is Xtend; the country of origin stated on the label is the United Kingdom.

What does one serving contain?

One scoop of powder (14.1–14.7 g depending on the flavour) provides 3.5 g of L-leucine, 1.75 g of L-isoleucine, 1.75 g of L-valine and 2.5 g of L-glutamine. There is 550 mg of L-citrulline per serving; the nutrition information of the Blue Raspberry flavour states it as citrulline malate (1 g, of which 555 mg is citrulline). One serving provides 0.64 mg of vitamin B6, or 46% of the nutrient reference value, 60 mg of magnesium (16%) and 180 mg of potassium (9%). The formula also contains sodium citrate, potassium chloride and sodium chloride. The Strawberry Kiwi label lists chloride (334 mg, 42% NRV) and sodium (216 mg) instead of potassium.

The product is a source of vitamin B6 and magnesium. Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal function of the immune system. Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance. Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

How to use?

Mix one scoop of powder (use the scoop provided in the container) with at least 250 ml of water and shake well; you can adjust the amount of water to taste. On training days the drink can be consumed during exercise, and on rest days throughout the day. Up to two servings may be consumed per day – do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The powder may settle during transport, which is why the product is sold by weight, not by volume; the stated number of servings applies when measured exactly by weight.

Xtend is suitable for healthy adults aged 18 or over who want a flavoured drink containing amino acids, vitamin B6 and minerals during exercise or throughout the day. The product does not replace a varied diet – amino acids are also supplied by protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and pulses. The product is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
