Scitec Nutrition 100% Beef Muscle – a blend of beef protein and carbohydrates

Scitec Nutrition 100% Beef Muscle is a chocolate-flavoured drink powder containing hydrolysed beef protein and added carbohydrates. The manufacturer states that all of the product's protein comes from beef. One 106 g serving provides 30 g of protein, 64 g of carbohydrate and 2 g of added L-leucine, with 387 kcal of energy per serving. The carbohydrates come mainly from maltodextrin and starch.

There are 1.6 g of fat per serving, of which 0.3 g saturates, and 3.7 g of sugars. The pack contains 3180 g of powder, i.e. 30 servings – with one serving a day, it lasts a month.

Beef protein and carbohydrates

100% Beef Muscle belongs to the so-called gainers – drink powders in which plenty of carbohydrates have been added to the protein. The protein source is hydrolysed beef protein: during hydrolysis, the protein has been broken down into shorter peptide chains. The essential branched-chain amino acid L-leucine has been added to the protein – 2 g per serving.

Most of the carbohydrate comes from maltodextrin (50% of the formula), and the powder also contains 9.4% waxy corn starch. The flavour comes from fat-reduced cocoa powder and flavouring, and the sweetness from the sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame K.

According to the manufacturer, 100% Beef Muscle is gluten free (in accordance with European Union regulations) and lactose free – the drink prepared with water contains less than 0.1 g of lactose per 100 g.

How to use?

Mix 1 serving (106 g, i.e. 2⅓ scoops, which is about 11 heaped tablespoons) of powder with 500 ml of water and shake well. On training days, drink 1 serving after training; on rest days, you can drink it at any time during the day.

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place. The product is not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.
