Nitric Oxide – L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate in vegetable capsules

Amix Nitric Oxide is a food supplement containing L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (AAKG) in vegetable capsules. One capsule contains 750 mg and the daily dose of four capsules 3000 mg L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate. The container holds 360 capsules (net weight 324 g), or 90 daily doses. The product is part of the range of the Czech food supplement manufacturer Amix Nutrition. The vegetable capsule is made from cellulose and contains no animal-derived ingredients.

What is AAKG?

L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, or AAKG, is a compound in which the amino acid L-arginine is bound to alpha-ketoglutaric acid. Alpha-ketoglutaric acid is an organic acid that occurs naturally in the body. L-arginine is a protein-building amino acid that the body can produce itself and that also comes from protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, nuts and seeds. The manufacturer describes AAKG as an advanced form of L-arginine.

AAKG is a white crystalline powder that dissolves well in water. Food supplements use it as a powder or in capsules. In this product AAKG is enclosed in vegetable capsules, and the net weight of the container is 324 g.

How to use?

On training days, take 2 capsules about 2 hours after breakfast and 2 capsules about 30–60 minutes before training. On non-training days, take 2 capsules before lunch and 2 capsules before dinner. This adds up to 4 capsules or 3000 mg AAKG a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The exact amount per serving is shown in the nutrition information. If you forget a capsule, do not take a double amount next time.

Ingredients and storage

In addition to L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, the capsule contains the stabiliser hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (Methocel®) and the anti-caking agents vegetable magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. The capsule shell is made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and purified water, and its white colour comes from calcium carbonate – the capsule contains no gelatine. Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, away from sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed so that the capsules do not absorb moisture.
