NOW Foods Taurine Double Strength is a food supplement providing 1000 mg, i.e. 1 g, of free-form taurine per capsule. The name "Double Strength" means that each capsule contains twice as much taurine as NOW Foods' regular strength product, which contains 500 mg. The bottle contains 100 capsules. What is taurine?

Taurine is a sulphur-containing organic compound classified as a conditionally essential amino acid. Unlike most amino acids, taurine is not used to build proteins – in the body it occurs mainly in free form. The human body also produces taurine itself, but most of it is obtained from food.

In the diet, taurine is found mainly in foods of animal origin: fish, seafood, meat, poultry and, to a lesser extent, dairy products. Plant foods contain very little of it. "Free form" means that the taurine is not bound to other compounds or into peptides.

How to use?
