Now Foods Methyl Folate is a food supplement in which each tablet contains 1000 µg of (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, or 5-MTHF. It is a form of folate (vitamin B9) present in the product as a glucosamine salt under the trade name Quatrefolic®. According to the label, one tablet corresponds to 1667 µg of folate, which is 834% of the nutrient reference value (NRV) for folate. The daily dose is one tablet with a meal, and the container holds 90 tablets, or 90 daily doses – about three months of use. The product is developed by the American food supplement manufacturer NOW Foods, a family-owned company since 1968.

Folate

Folate is a water-soluble B vitamin, also known as vitamin B9. In food, folate is found mainly in green leafy vegetables, legumes, citrus fruits and wholegrain products. Unlike synthetic folic acid, (6S)-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is a form of folate that also occurs naturally in food. Quatrefolic® is the glucosamine salt of this compound, used in food supplements as a source of folate.

How to use?

After opening, keep the container in a cool, dry place and close the lid carefully after use.

High-dose folate may mask vitamin B12 deficiency, so the elderly and individuals with conditions that may impair vitamin B12 absorption should frequently check their vitamin B12 status while using the product.
