OstroVit Extra Green – green powder blend with apple fibre, algae and plant extracts

OstroVit Extra Green is a food supplement in powder form that combines apple fibre, two microalgae, inulin, dried vegetables and seven plant extracts in a single serving. The largest part of one daily dose of 1.5 scoops (7.5 g) is 2500 mg of apple fibre, complemented by 1000 mg of spirulina, 1000 mg of chlorella, 800 mg of inulin, and 450 mg each of dried broccoli and dried spinach. The 200 g pack contains 26 servings, so one pack lasts almost four weeks. The powder can be mixed into juice, a plant-based drink or water, and it also works in yoghurt, porridge or salad. The product is developed by the Polish food supplement manufacturer OstroVit.

Ingredients per serving

The base of the blend is apple fibre – a natural dietary fibre obtained from apple pomace that swells quickly on contact with liquid and contains pectin. Spirulina and chlorella are microalgae ground into powder and are often used in smoothies and food supplements. Inulin is a dietary fibre of plant origin made up of sugar molecules linked in a single chain. Dried broccoli and spinach add a vegetable component to the blend.

Each serving provides 200 mg of green tea leaf extract (including 100 mg of polyphenols and 30 mg of EGCG), 200 mg of elderberry extract (80 mg of polyphenols and 10 mg of anthocyanins), 110 mg of turmeric rhizome extract (104.5 mg of curcuminoids), 100 mg of alfalfa extract and 100 mg of moringa leaf extract, 50 mg of ginkgo biloba leaf extract (12 mg of flavone glycosides and 3 mg of terpene lactones) and 50 mg of grape seed extract (47.5 mg of proanthocyanidins). A serving also contains 1 × 10⁹ CFU of the bacterial culture Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856.

How to use?

Mix 1.5 scoops (7.5 g) of powder once a day into 200–250 ml of juice, a plant-based drink or water. The liquid must not be hot. The powder can also be added to yoghurt, oat porridge, muesli or salad. Use the scoop included in the pack for an accurate dose. As the product contains green tea extract, do not take it on an empty stomach – it is best taken with a meal. Do not use other products containing green tea on the same day and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. At the recommended use, a 200 g pack lasts 26 days.

OstroVit has updated the Extra Green recipe: soy lecithin, wheat and barley have been removed and replaced with moringa and alfalfa extracts and dried broccoli and spinach. Silicon dioxide is used as an anti-caking agent. According to the manufacturer, OstroVit products are regularly tested in an independent accredited laboratory. The product is made in a facility that also uses ingredients containing milk, soy, peanuts, other nuts, cereals containing gluten, eggs, shellfish and fish.
