Evolite Lion's Mane – lion's mane mycelium extract

Evolite Lion's Mane is a food supplement containing lion's mane (Hericium erinaceus) mycelium extract in vegetable capsules. Each capsule contains 500 mg of extract standardised to 30% polysaccharides – that is 150 mg of polysaccharides per capsule. The container holds 60 capsules (net weight 36 g) and the daily dose is one capsule, so one container lasts 60 days.

The product is vegan: the capsule shell is made of hypromellose (Vcaps®) and coloured with iron oxides and patent blue V. The formula contains no sugar, sweeteners or flavourings.

What is lion's mane?

Lion's mane (Hericium erinaceus) is an edible mushroom whose white fruiting body with long, shaggy spines resembles a lion's mane. In nature it grows on the trunks of deciduous trees. In East Asian cuisine lion's mane is a well-known edible mushroom, and it is also cultivated specifically for food. In the wild in Europe lion's mane is rare and protected in several countries, so the lion's mane used in food and food supplements comes from cultivation.

Mycelium extract and polysaccharides

A mushroom consists of the fruiting body, which is the visible part, and the mycelium, a network of threads that grows in the substrate. This product uses lion's mane mycelium extract. Polysaccharides are carbohydrates made of long chains of sugar units and occur naturally in mushrooms. The extract is standardised so that 30% of its weight consists of polysaccharides. Thanks to standardisation, every capsule contains the same amount of polysaccharides – 150 mg.
