Astaxanthin

Astaxanthin is a reddish-pink natural pigment that belongs to the carotenoids – the same group of substances as beta-carotene and lutein. In nature, astaxanthin is produced by certain algae and microorganisms; through the food chain it ends up in salmon, trout, shrimp and crayfish and gives them their characteristic reddish colour. The microalga Haematococcus pluvialis is one of the richest natural sources of astaxanthin, as large amounts of this pigment accumulate in its cells under unfavourable conditions. According to NOW Foods, the astaxanthin in this product comes from non-GMO microalgae and naturally contains other carotenoids as well – lutein, canthaxanthin and beta-carotene. Astaxanthin is fat-soluble, which is why it is combined with extra virgin olive oil in the softgel.

How to use?

Take one softgel a day with a fat-containing meal, for example with lunch or dinner, and swallow it with a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
