OstroVit Fiber Psyllium VEGE is a food supplement in the form of a fine-grained powder made from just two ingredients: psyllium seeds (70%) and ovata husks (30%). Both come from plants of the plantain genus (Plantago). No sugar, sweeteners, flavourings or fillers are added, so the product has a natural taste and can be mixed with water as well as with food. One serving is 7 g, or one full scoop, and provides 3.9 g of fibre. The 600 g pack contains 85 servings. The product is made by the Polish manufacturer OstroVit and is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Dietary fibre

Dietary fibre consists of compounds of plant origin that occur naturally in foods such as oatmeal, bran, nuts and dried legumes. It is divided into two groups: soluble and insoluble fibre. Psyllium is a natural, unprocessed source of fibre – OstroVit Fiber Psyllium VEGE is a mixture of the seeds and husks of two plants. According to the manufacturer, its main components are cellulose and lignin, which belong to the insoluble fibre fraction. 100 g of the product contains 56 g of fibre, one 7 g serving provides 3.9 g and two servings provide 7.8 g. Besides fibre, the product naturally contains a little protein and fat, while its sugar content is very low.

How to use?

Mix 7 g, or one full scoop, of the powder in 200 ml of water and let it stand for 5–10 minutes before drinking. The product can be taken once or twice a day depending on your needs, so the maximum daily amount is 14 g. While using the product, it is recommended to drink about 2 litres of water over the course of the day. The manufacturer also suggests adding psyllium to yoghurt, porridge, smoothies or home baking. If you take the product twice a day, one pack lasts about six weeks.
