Mutant Mass Extreme 2500 is a powdered product; one serving (285 g, or 4 scoops) prepared with water provides 1070 kcal, 231 g of carbohydrates, 30 g of protein and 2.5 g of fat. The carbohydrates come from five sources – maltodextrin, fermented pea starch, waxy maize starch, rice and sweet potato –, the protein from three whey proteins and the fats from MCT coconut oil, avocado and pumpkin seeds. One kilogram bag holds about 3.5 servings. Sportlab offers the product in the Triple Chocolate flavour. The product is made in Canada by the sports brand Mutant.

Carbohydrates, protein and fats

One serving contains 231 g of carbohydrates, of which 7 g are sugars and 4 g fibre, and 30 g of protein from whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and hydrolysed whey protein. According to the manufacturer, a serving contains 12.8 g of essential amino acids, including 3.1 g of leucine, 2.0 g of isoleucine and 1.6 g of valine. Two servings a day prepared with water provide 2140 kcal. When two servings are mixed with a total of about 940 ml of 1% fat milk, the manufacturer states 2540 kcal and 92 g of protein – which is where the number 2500 in the product name comes from. The product also contains an enzyme blend (lactase and protease).

How to use?

The shake is intended for healthy adults only. Always pour the liquid into the shaker or blender first and then add the powder. In a blender, mix one serving (285 g, or 4 scoops) with about 480 ml of cold water, milk or another beverage to the desired consistency; add more liquid if the shake is too thick. In a shaker, use up to 720 ml of liquid so that the powder mixes more easily. According to the manufacturer, up to two servings a day may be used. For the first few times, the manufacturer recommends starting with one serving a day, as a large amount of energy at once may cause stomach discomfort in some people. With two servings, one can be taken after training and the other between meals. For a smaller amount, two scoops of powder can also be used.

Who is it for?

Mutant Mass Extreme 2500 is suitable for healthy adults whose daily energy and nutrient needs are high and who find it hard to cover them with regular food alone, for example people who train a lot and regularly or those with a busy daily schedule. The powder quickly makes a shake that is easy to take with you. The product contains milk and soy and is not suitable for people sensitive to these allergens. The manufacturer does not recommend the product for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Ingredients and quality

In addition to carbohydrates, protein and fats, the ingredients include thickeners (defatted soybean, pea and guar gum), cocoa processed with alkali, flavourings, salt, sunflower and/or soy lecithin, the sweetener sucralose, coffee powder, silicon dioxide, cinnamon and tart cherry. The product is made in a facility that also handles ingredients from fish (collagen). Ingredients and nutrition information refer to the Triple Chocolate flavour.
