Now Foods Hyaluronic Acid with MSM – in vegetable capsules

The Now Foods hyaluronic acid and MSM food supplement provides 100 mg hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium hyaluronate and 900 mg MSM, or methylsulphonylmethane, in two vegetable capsules. One capsule therefore contains 50 mg hyaluronic acid and 450 mg MSM. As the hyaluronic acid is present as a sodium salt, two capsules also provide 10 mg sodium. The manufacturer recommends taking 2 capsules one to two times daily with food. The bottle contains 60 capsules, which last 30 days taking two capsules a day and 15 days taking four. The product combines in one capsule two ingredients that are often also sold separately.

What are hyaluronic acid and MSM?

Hyaluronic acid is a long-chain polysaccharide belonging to the glycosaminoglycans, made of repeating units of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine. It occurs naturally in the human and animal body. Hyaluronic acid was discovered in 1934 by Karl Meyer and John Palmer, and its name comes from the Greek word for glass and from uronic acid. Food supplements often use the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, which is also the form in this product.

MSM, or methylsulphonylmethane, is an organic sulphur compound also known as dimethyl sulphone. How to use?

Take 2 capsules one to two times daily with food, with a glass of water. The maximum daily amount is 4 capsules, i.e. 200 mg hyaluronic acid and 1800 mg MSM. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount. If you also use other food supplements containing hyaluronic acid or MSM, take their amounts into account. Take the capsules at mealtime, as the manufacturer recommends using the product with food.
