NOW Foods L-Carnitine 1000 mg is a food supplement in tablets, each containing 1000 mg of L-carnitine. The L-carnitine is present in the tablet as L-carnitine tartrate: one tablet contains 1470 mg of L-carnitine tartrate, providing 1000 mg of L-carnitine. Carnipure® L-carnitine is used as the raw material. The manufacturer recommends taking one tablet 1–2 times a day with or without meals, and the pack contains 50 tablets. The tablets have a vegetarian coating and, according to the manufacturer, are also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

What is L-carnitine?

L-carnitine is a naturally occurring compound that the human body produces itself from the amino acids lysine and methionine. From food we obtain L-carnitine mainly from foods of animal origin, above all red meat and, to a lesser extent, fish, poultry and dairy products, while plant foods contain very little of it. Pure L-carnitine readily attracts moisture from the air, which can cause it to deteriorate quickly. This is why the product uses the tartrate form of L-carnitine, which, according to the manufacturer, helps keep the product stable and maintain its full potency. Carnipure® is a trademark of an L-carnitine raw material. No nutrient reference value has been established for L-carnitine.

How to use?

Take one tablet 1–2 times a day and swallow it with a glass of water or another drink. The tablet can be taken either with a meal or between meals. If you take two tablets a day, divide them, for example, between morning and afternoon. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount of two tablets. If you also use other food supplements containing L-carnitine, add up the amounts. After opening, keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place.

Besides L-carnitine tartrate, the tablet contains cellulose, stearic acid and magnesium stearate of vegetable origin, silica and a vegetarian coating. The product is not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients, but the GMP-compliant production facility also processes ingredients containing these allergens, so the product may contain traces of them. According to the manufacturer, the product is non-GMO and halal and kosher certified. The country of origin is China. Natural colour variation of the tablets may occur.
