Now Foods L-Carnosine is a food supplement with 500 mg of L-carnosine, or beta-alanyl-L-histidine, in each vegetable capsule. The recommended use is one capsule one to three times a day, preferably with food. What is L-carnosine?

L-carnosine is a dipeptide, a compound made up of two amino acids – beta-alanine and L-histidine. Its name comes from the Latin word carnis, meaning meat, because carnosine was first isolated from meat extract in 1900. The human body can produce carnosine itself, while in the diet it comes mainly from animal foods, above all from meat and fish. Plant foods contain practically no carnosine. Carnosine should not be confused with carnitine, which has a similar name – they are chemically different substances. How to use?

Take one capsule one to three times a day, preferably with food, and swallow it with a glass of water. Do not take more than three capsules a day. After opening, keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place.
