Optimum Nutrition Electrolyte (called Electrolyte Powder Elite in the official shop) is a powdered food supplement that mixes with water into a lightly flavoured electrolyte drink. One serving (8 g, about one rounded scoop) contains 400 mg of sodium, 300 mg of potassium, 113 mg of magnesium and 121 mg of calcium. The powder is mixed with 450 ml of cold water, so one serving makes a large glass or a small bottle of drink. The pack holds 264 g of powder, enough for 33 servings.

Electrolytes

Electrolytes are minerals that are dissolved in the body as ions – they include sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium and chloride. When we sweat, the body loses some of them together with water. In Optimum Nutrition Electrolyte, sodium and potassium are present as chlorides, magnesium as oxide and calcium as tricalcium phosphate. One serving provides 30% of the nutrient reference value (NRV) for magnesium and 15% each for potassium and calcium. The base of the drink is maltodextrin, the sweetener is sucralose and the colour is riboflavins.
