Inosine – inosine in vegetable capsules

Amix Inosine is a food supplement containing inosine, or hypoxanthine riboside, in vegetable capsules. One capsule contains 600 mg and the daily dose of two capsules 1200 mg inosine. The container holds 100 capsules, or 50 daily doses. The product is part of the range of the Czech food supplement manufacturer Amix Nutrition. The vegetable capsule is made from cellulose and contains no animal-derived ingredients.

What is inosine?

Inosine, or hypoxanthine riboside, is a nucleoside – a compound made up of the purine base hypoxanthine and the sugar ribose. In the body, inosine is formed naturally during the metabolism of nucleic acids and purines. In the diet, purines come from foods such as meat, fish and yeast. In this product inosine is a crystalline powder enclosed in a vegetable capsule.

A related compound, inosine monophosphate or inosinic acid, is also used in the food industry as the flavour enhancer E630. In this product, however, inosine is present as a pure nucleoside, not as a flavour enhancer. The capsules are white and odourless.

How to use?

Take 1 capsule twice a day, preferably before exercise. The capsules can be taken with or without food. This adds up to 2 capsules or 1200 mg inosine a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The exact amount per serving is shown in the nutrition information. If you forget a capsule, do not take a double amount next time.

Amix Inosine is suitable for adults who want to supplement their diet with inosine. The product is not designed for children and must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The manufacturer recommends consulting a doctor or another healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you take medication or other food supplements. Inosine is a purine that the body breaks down into uric acid – if you have high blood uric acid or gout, be sure to consult a doctor before use. The product may contain traces of milk, eggs, soybeans, gluten, crustaceans and molluscs.

Ingredients and storage

In addition to inosine, the capsule contains the anti-caking agents magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. The capsule shell is made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and purified water, and its white colour comes from calcium carbonate – the capsule contains no gelatine. Store in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, away from sunlight. Keep the container tightly closed so that the capsules do not absorb moisture. The capsules contain no sugar, sweeteners or flavourings.
