Now Foods Super Omega 3-6-9 is a food supplement in which each softgel contains 1200 mg of a blend of three oils: natural fish oil concentrate, borage oil and flax seed oil. The recommended daily dose is two softgels with food, providing a total of 2400 mg of oil – 800 mg of each oil. The container holds 90 softgels, or 45 daily doses, so one pack lasts about a month and a half with regular use. Unlike blends made only from plant oils, this product also contains fish oil, which provides the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Natural vitamin E has been added to protect the oils from oxidation. The brand owner is the American food supplement manufacturer NOW Foods, a family-owned company since 1968.

Omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids

Each of the three oils adds different fatty acids to the blend. Fish oil concentrate is a source of the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, flax seed oil provides the plant omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), and borage oil is rich in the omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). The oils also contain the omega-9 fatty acid oleic acid. According to the manufacturer's example values, two softgels contain approximately 604 mg of omega-3 fatty acids (including 126 mg EPA and 78 mg DHA), 539 mg of omega-6 fatty acids (including 160 mg GLA) and 225 mg of omega-9 fatty acids. As these are natural oils, the amounts may vary slightly from batch to batch. Two softgels contain about 2.5 g of fat, of which 1.5 g is polyunsaturated fatty acids.

How to use?

Take two softgels a day with food and swallow them with a sufficient amount of water. The softgels can be taken at once or split between two meals. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Close the container tightly after opening and store it in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.
