    Mutant Hardcore BCAA – 8 g BCAAs and electrolytes in every serving

    Mutant Hardcore BCAA is a flavoured powdered food supplement. Each 13 g scoop provides 8000 mg of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) in a 2:1:1 ratio: 4000 mg L-leucine, 2000 mg L-valine and 2000 mg L-isoleucine. A serving also contains 1700 mg of a micronised amino acid blend (900 mg glycine, 500 mg L-glutamine and 300 mg L-alanine), a 1040 mg mineral electrolyte blend and 4.75 mg of BioPerine piperine from 5 mg of black pepper fruit extract. The total amount of amino acids per serving is 9.7 g. The 390 g tub contains 30 servings, or 30 daily doses. The drink is sweetened with the sweetener sucralose. The product was developed by Mutant, a Canadian sports supplement brand.

    BCAAs and electrolytes

    Leucine, isoleucine and valine are essential amino acids that the body cannot make on its own, so they have to come from food. They are found in protein-rich foods such as meat and fish products, dairy products, eggs and legumes. In Hardcore BCAA the branched-chain amino acids come in a 2:1:1 ratio, which means there is twice as much leucine as valine or isoleucine. According to Mutant, the BCAAs are obtained from plant raw materials by fermentation and are instantized so that the powder mixes quickly in water.

    The electrolyte blend consists of sodium citrate, sea salt, potassium citrate, calcium carbonate, tricalcium phosphate, Albion magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide. According to the packaging, one serving of the Fruit Punch, Grape, Lemonade, Mango and Peach flavours provides 63 mg of magnesium (17% NRV) and 135 mg of sodium; the Mango flavour additionally provides 60 mg of calcium and 90 mg of potassium.

    How to use?

    Mix one scoop (13 g) with 250–500 ml of cold water and drink it during or after training. The recommended daily dose is one scoop, which should not be exceeded. According to Mutant, you can adjust the sweetness with the amount of water: less water makes a sweeter drink, more water a milder one. The powder is easy to mix in a shaker or water bottle; shake well before drinking. If you use other products containing amino acids or electrolytes on the same day, take their amounts into account. The tub is filled by weight, not by volume, so the powder may settle during transport.

    Who is it for?

    Mutant Hardcore BCAA is suitable for healthy adults who train regularly and want a flavoured amino acid drink during or after training. It suits those who prefer a tasty drink to plain water and want BCAAs, additional amino acids and electrolytes from a single serving. The six flavours include both fruity options and a lemonade. The product is not suitable for children or for use when planning a pregnancy, during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Consult a physician before taking any food supplement.
