Mutant Madness – pre-workout powder with caffeine, amino acids and vitamins

Mutant Madness is a powdered food supplement from the Canadian sports supplement brand Mutant, mixed with water and taken before training. It contains vitamin C, B vitamins, amino acids and caffeine. One 9 g serving (1 scoop) provides 1500 mg L-citrulline, 1500 mg beta-alanine, 750 mg taurine and 250 mg L-tyrosine, plus a total of 360 mg caffeine from two sources – Coffea arabica bean extract and caffeine citrate. The jar holds 270 g of powder, or 30 servings. The drink is sweetened with the sweeteners sucralose and steviol glycosides. Because of its high caffeine content, the product is intended only for healthy adults who are accustomed to caffeine-containing products.

What does one serving contain?

The amino acid blend (4000 mg) consists of L-citrulline, beta-alanine, taurine and L-tyrosine. The caffeine and choline complex (515 mg) contains 310 mg Coffea arabica bean extract, 100 mg caffeine citrate (50% caffeine) and 100 mg choline bitartrate (40% choline). In addition, each serving contains 5.3 mg black pepper fruit extract (95% piperine) and 60 mg calcium as calcium carbonate from red algae. The flavour is rounded off with naringin, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanillin and cayenne.

As for vitamins, one serving provides 250 mg vitamin C (313% NRV), 30 mg niacin (188% NRV), 4.2 mg vitamin B6 (300% NRV) and 6 µg vitamin B12 (240% NRV).

How to use?

Mix half to one scoop of powder with 250–500 ml of water and drink 15–45 minutes before training. The first time, use half a serving or less to assess your tolerance. Half a scoop contains about 180 mg caffeine, a full scoop 360 mg. Do not exceed the daily amount (1 scoop) and do not use other caffeine-containing products on the same day. The manufacturer recommends occasional use only. Drink enough fluid before, during and after exercise. Shake the jar gently before and after each use to prevent clumping, and wait a few seconds before opening it.

Mutant Madness is intended for healthy adults who train regularly and are accustomed to products with a high caffeine content.
