OstroVit Beta-Alanine is a food supplement in powder form whose main ingredient is beta-alanine. The pack contains 200 g of powder, and Sportlab offers the product in two variants: unflavoured and lemon. The unflavoured variant consists of beta-alanine only, without additives, and one pack provides 250 servings. In the lemon variant, beta-alanine is combined with an acidity regulator, flavourings, an anti-caking agent and sweeteners, with no added sugar; the pack contains 148 servings. One serving of either variant provides 800 mg of beta-alanine, and three servings a day provide a total of 2400 mg. The powder dissolves easily in water or juice and is also a good option for people who find swallowing tablets uncomfortable. Beta-alanine

Beta-alanine is an amino acid that the human body can produce itself and that is also obtained from the everyday diet. Its main dietary sources are meat and meat products. Together with L-histidine, beta-alanine is a precursor of carnosine – a compound made up of two amino acids, i.e. a dipeptide. Beta-alanine is used in many food supplements intended for athletes and physically active people.

OstroVit Beta-Alanine provides 800 mg of beta-alanine per serving. The manufacturer recommends taking no more than 800 mg at a time and leaving at least three hours between individual servings, as a larger single amount may cause a tingling and numbness sensation.

How to use?

The serving of the unflavoured variant is 800 mg, or one level scoop; the serving of the lemon variant is 1350 mg, or two scoops, which also contains 800 mg of beta-alanine. Dissolve a serving in 100 ml of water or juice and use the 1 ml scoop included in the pack. Up to three servings can be taken a day (2400 mg of beta-alanine in total); the manufacturer recommends taking the lemon variant three times a day with a meal. Leave at least three hours between servings and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. As the powder is strongly hygroscopic, i.e. it attracts moisture from the air, it may form lumps over time – this does not mean that the properties of the product have changed. In that case, break up the lumps before use.

The only ingredient of the unflavoured variant is beta-alanine. In addition to beta-alanine, the lemon variant contains the acidity regulator citric acid, flavourings, the anti-caking agent silicon dioxide and the sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame K. The ingredients themselves contain no allergens, but according to the manufacturer the product may contain traces of milk, soy, peanuts, other nuts, sesame seeds, oats or cereals containing gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish.
