OstroVit Collagen + Vitamin C is a powdered food supplement containing hydrolysed beef collagen and vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid. One serving is 10 g, or 2 scoops of powder. A serving of the unflavoured variant provides 9500 mg hydrolysed beef collagen, a serving of the flavoured variants 8700 mg. All variants contain 500 mg vitamin C per serving, which is 625% of the nutrient reference value. The 400 g pack contains 40 servings. At Sportlab the product is available unflavoured and in blackcurrant, peach, pineapple and raspberry lemonade with mint flavours. It is made by the Polish company OstroVit.

What are collagen and vitamin C?

Collagen is one of the main structural proteins of the body and an important part of the extracellular matrix. It makes up approximately 30% of all proteins in the human body and is found, among other places, in connective tissue, blood vessels, skin and hair. In nature, collagen occurs in animal bones and tendons. The beef collagen used in this product is obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis, which breaks collagen down into smaller peptides. Unlike fish collagen, beef collagen does not have a characteristic fishy smell. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that the body cannot produce itself, so it must be obtained from the diet. Vitamin C is found in fresh fruit and vegetables such as peppers, kohlrabi, oranges and blackcurrants.

How to use?

Dissolve one serving, i.e. 10 g (2 scoops) of powder, in 200 ml of water or juice in a shaker. For the raspberry lemonade with mint variant the manufacturer recommends dissolving the powder in water. Take one serving a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. If you use other food supplements containing vitamin C at the same time, take their amounts into account too. Ingredients and storage

The unflavoured variant contains only hydrolysed beef collagen and L-ascorbic acid. The flavoured variants also contain the acidity regulator citric acid, flavourings and the sweetener sucralose, and depending on the flavour also the colours carotenoids or black carrot powder concentrate, red beet juice powder and maltodextrin. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight and close the pack carefully after use so that the powder does not absorb moisture.
