XTEND EAA – essential amino acids and electrolytes

XTEND EAA is a flavoured drink powder from Xtend containing all nine essential amino acids, plus L-arginine and the electrolytes sodium and chloride. The product is a food supplement. The recommended daily dose is two level scoops of powder (14.8–15.8 g depending on the flavour), which provides a total of 10 g of amino acids: 3000 mg L-leucine, 1500 mg L-isoleucine, 1500 mg L-threonine, 1500 mg L-valine, 1300 mg L-lysine hydrochloride, 500 mg L-arginine, 400 mg L-phenylalanine, 200 mg L-tryptophan and 50 mg each of L-histidine and L-methionine. The same amount contains 200 mg of sodium and 300 mg of chloride, which is 38% of the nutrient reference value for chloride. The powder is mixed with water, and the drink is sweetened with the sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame K.

Amino acids and electrolytes

Essential amino acids are the nine amino acids – leucine, isoleucine, valine, threonine, lysine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, histidine and methionine – that the human body cannot produce itself and that must be obtained from food. Leucine, isoleucine and valine are the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): the XTEND EAA daily dose contains 6 g of them in a 2:1:1 ratio. L-arginine is not an essential amino acid, but 500 mg per daily dose has been added to the formula. Lysine is present as lysine hydrochloride. As electrolytes, XTEND EAA contains sodium and chloride; Himalayan pink sea salt is one of the ingredients. The nutrition information is given per two scoops, i.e. per daily dose – one serving (1 scoop) provides half of these amounts.

How to use?

Mix one serving – one level scoop of powder, using the scoop provided in the container – with 250 ml of water and shake well. Up to two servings may be consumed per day; two scoops are the recommended daily dose to which the nutrition information refers. You can drink the prepared drink whenever it fits into your day. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount.
