MUTANT Hardcore Whey – protein powder with three forms of whey protein

MUTANT Hardcore Whey is a food supplement in powder form whose protein comes from three forms of whey protein: whey protein isolate, whey protein hydrolysate and whey protein concentrate. One scoop (33.5 g; 32.5 g for Vanilla Ice Cream) provides 24 g of protein and 120 kcal; a serving contains 1.5 g of fat, 4 g of carbohydrate and 2 g of sugars. Depending on the flavour, the 2.27 kg pack contains 68 or 70 servings. There are three flavours to choose from: Chocolate Milkshake, Cookies & Cream and Vanilla Ice Cream. The product comes from the Canadian sports brand Mutant, and the country of origin is Canada.

Protein and calcium

One serving contains 24 g of protein, which accounts for about 80% of the energy content of the product. A serving also provides 130 mg of calcium, i.e. 16% of the nutrient reference value (NRV).

Amino acids

Whey protein contains all essential amino acids. According to the typical amino acid profile on the label, 24 g of protein contains 2.7 g of leucine, 1.5 g of isoleucine and 1.3 g of valine – 5.5 g of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) in total – as well as 2.6 g of lysine and 4.3 g of glutamine and glutamic acid. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, which we obtain from food as part of proteins. Flavours

All three flavours share the same whey protein base; the differences are in the flavouring ingredients:

• Chocolate Milkshake – with cocoa treated with alkali; serving 33.5 g, 68 servings per pack.
• Cookies & Cream – with cookie crumbs (tapioca starch, rice flour, sugar, cocoa, palm oil, chocolate liquor); serving 33.5 g, 68 servings per pack.
• Vanilla Ice Cream – vanilla ice cream flavour with added ascorbic acid; serving 32.5 g, 70 servings per pack.

All flavours are sweetened with sucralose, and Cookies & Cream also contains sugar.

How to use?

Mix one serving, i.e. one scoop of powder, with 180–240 ml of cold water or milk and drink it at any time of the day – for example with breakfast, as a snack or after training. The recommended daily dose is one scoop. A drink made with milk contains more energy and protein, as the nutritional value of the milk is added. The powder is packed by weight, not by volume, and may settle in the tub, so always measure a serving with the scoop.

MUTANT Hardcore Whey suits adults who train regularly and want a convenient way to top up their daily protein intake. As a serving is low in fat and sugars, it is easy to fit into different eating plans. The product contains milk (whey) and soy (lecithin) and, according to the label, also coconut, which is listed as a tree nut; it may also contain traces of fish (collagen). The product is therefore not suitable for people with milk or soy allergy. Keep the tub in a cool, dry, dark place and do not use the product if the packaging has been opened or the seal is broken.
