Mutant MCT Oil – unflavoured MCT oil from coconut

Mutant MCT Oil is a liquid food supplement consisting of 100% pure medium chain triglycerides, or MCTs. The oil is obtained from coconut and is unflavoured. The bottle contains 946 ml of oil. The recommended daily dose is 1 tablespoon (15 ml), so one bottle lasts for about 63 days. Mutant is a Canadian sports supplement brand and the country of origin of the product is Canada.

What is MCT oil?

MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides. Triglycerides are fats made up of glycerol and three fatty acids. Medium chain fatty acids have 6–12 carbon atoms in their carbon chain. In addition to medium chain fatty acids, coconut oil also contains fatty acids with longer chains. The fractionation mentioned in the product name means that the medium chain triglyceride fraction has been separated from coconut oil.

According to the label, Mutant MCT Oil contains pure C8 and C10 MCTs, i.e. triglycerides of caprylic acid (8 carbon atoms) and capric acid (10 carbon atoms). The oil is unflavoured, but its aroma, taste and colour may naturally vary slightly from batch to batch.

How to use?

Take 1 serving (1 tablespoon, i.e. 15 ml) once daily with food. To assess your individual tolerance, start with one third of a serving (1 teaspoon, i.e. 5 ml) with food. MCT oil can be added to protein shakes, coffee, tea, salad dressings or other sauces, or drizzled over meals. The oil is not recommended for frying because pure C8 and C10 MCTs have a low smoke point.

Store the bottle in a cool, dry place – no refrigeration is required. The product is packed by weight, not by volume. Do not use the product if the seal is broken or missing. If you experience gastrointestinal upset and it persists, stop using the product. The product is packed in a facility that also handles ingredients from milk, soy and fish (collagen).
