Per4m electrolyte mix – drink powder with potassium, magnesium and taurine

The Per4m electrolyte mix is a powdered food supplement from the sports nutrition brand PER4M Nutrition that makes a flavoured drink when dissolved in water. One serving is one 7 g scoop mixed with 400 ml of water. The tub contains 210 g of powder, or 30 servings, which is about a month's supply at one serving a day.

One serving provides 320 mg of potassium, 80 mg of magnesium and 120 mg of sodium, plus 2000 mg of taurine. The minerals come from potassium citrate, magnesium citrate and pink Himalayan salt. The mix also contains Cocomineral®, a powder made from coconut water, the mineral ingredient Aquamin F® and elderberry extract. Sportlab offers nine flavours.

Composition per serving

Potassium, magnesium and sodium are added as citrates or salt: 1000 mg of potassium citrate provides 320 mg of potassium and 500 mg of magnesium citrate provides 80 mg of magnesium. One serving contains 300 mg of pink Himalayan salt, of which 120 mg is sodium. According to the manufacturer, Cocomineral® is a powdered coconut water extract. The elderberry extract is concentrated at a ratio of 10:1. Taurine is an amino acid-like compound that is also obtained from ordinary food, especially meat and fish.

How to use?

Mix one scoop (7 g) with 400 ml of water and drink. The recommended amount is one serving a day. The drink can be consumed during training or throughout the day, for example from a water bottle you carry with you. The powder dissolves best when mixed in a shaker or when the bottle is shaken well. The prepared drink is best consumed straight away.

The Per4m electrolyte mix is suitable for adults who want a flavoured drink containing potassium, magnesium and sodium during training or throughout the day. The mix contains no caffeine; the sweetener is sucralose. If pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medication or having a medical condition, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
