Adidas Barbell Pad – black barbell pad for squats, lunges and hip thrusts

The Adidas Barbell Pad is a soft pad that wraps around the barbell and makes loaded exercises more comfortable. It is designed above all for squats, lunges and hip thrusts, i.e. exercises in which the bar rests on the shoulders or hips. The pad distributes the weight of the bar more evenly across the shoulders and hips and reduces discomfort and irritation during both heavy and high-rep sets. The barbell pad is 40 cm long and fits bars up to Olympic size. This product is black.

NBR foam core and Oxford fabric outer

The core of the pad is made of high-density NBR foam, which cushions the pressure of the bar on the body. The outer is made of high-density Oxford fabric that is hardwearing yet comfortable against the body. According to the manufacturer, the outer is sweat-resistant and has antibacterial properties, which helps keep the pad more hygienic. The inside of the pad has silicone dots that grip the bar, and a strong Velcro closure keeps the pad firmly closed around the bar. This way the pad stays in place during the exercise and does not slide along the bar.

How to use?

Place the pad in the middle of the bar so that the silicone-dotted inner side is against the bar, and fasten the Velcro closure tightly. In squats and lunges the pad rests on your shoulders, in hip thrusts on your hips. Before starting a set, make sure the pad is firmly fastened and centred on the bar so that the weight is distributed evenly on both sides.

The barbell pad is 40 cm (15.7 inches) long. Sportlab sells the black colour. According to the manufacturer, the pad fits bars up to Olympic size. After training, let the pad air-dry and store it in a dry place. The sweat-resistant outer makes everyday use of the pad easier.
