CBUM Essential Pre-Workout is a powdered pre-workout food supplement from the CBUM line of the American brand Raw Nutrition. One scoop contains 4 g of L-citrulline, 3.2 g of beta-alanine, 2 g of L-tyrosine, 1 g of taurine, 200 mg of natural caffeine from green coffee beans, 200 mg of Himalayan pink salt and 5 µg of vitamin B12. The powder is mixed with water into a flavoured drink that is consumed before training. The product is sweetened with sweeteners: all flavours contain sucralose, and the Citrus Grapefruit and Grape flavours also contain acesulfame K. The container holds 30 scoops; the net weight of the powder depends on the flavour and is 402–441 g according to the EU label. The country of origin is the United States of America.

What does one scoop contain?

Depending on the flavour, one scoop weighs 13.5–14.7 g. It provides 4 g of L-citrulline, 3.2 g of beta-alanine, 2 g of L-tyrosine and 1 g of taurine. One scoop contains 200 mg of caffeine, derived from green coffee bean extract. There is 200 mg of Himalayan pink salt, of which sodium is 75 mg according to the label (the Watermelon Grape flavour states 78 mg of sodium and 75 mg of chloride). Vitamin B12 is present as methylcobalamin at 5 µg, or 200% of the nutrient reference value. The Fruit Burst label states a daily dose of two scoops, which provides a total of 400 mg of caffeine and 10 µg of vitamin B12 (400% NRV).

The product is a source of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal psychological function. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal red blood cell formation. Vitamin B12 contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

How to use?

Mix one scoop of powder with 240–360 ml of water (300–360 ml for Sour Watermelon) and drink about 30 minutes before training. If you are using the product for the first time, start with half a scoop to assess how you tolerate the caffeine. The Citrus Grapefruit, Fruit Burst and Grape labels also allow experienced users to take two scoops at once, which means 400 mg of caffeine – do not take more than two scoops per day. Do not use the product within 4 hours before bedtime or together with coffee or other caffeinated drinks.

If you are taking medication, have a medical condition or are planning surgery, consult a doctor or other healthcare professional before use; stop using the product two weeks before planned surgery.
