OstroVit Vitamin D3 4000 IU + K2 is a food supplement in tablets containing two fat-soluble vitamins. One tablet contains 100 µg, or 4000 IU, of vitamin D as cholecalciferol, which is 2000% of the nutrient reference value, and 100 µg of vitamin K as menaquinone-7 (MK-7), which is 133% of the nutrient reference value. The daily dose is one tablet and the container holds 100 tablets, or 100 daily doses. According to the manufacturer, the product is intended for people over 75 years of age and is suitable for vegetarians. The product is made by the Polish food supplement manufacturer OstroVit.

What are vitamins D3 and K2?

Vitamin D3, or cholecalciferol, belongs to the fat-soluble vitamins. It is obtained from food, for example oily sea fish, and the body also produces it in the skin. In the body, vitamin D is stored mainly in adipose tissue and the liver. Vitamin K2, or menaquinone, is also a fat-soluble vitamin, stored mainly in the liver. It is found in foods of both plant and animal origin and is also produced by bacteria naturally present in the digestive tract. The menaquinone-7 (MK-7) used in this product is obtained with the help of the bacterium Bacillus subtilis natto.

How to use?

Take 1 tablet a day with a meal. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Before use, the manufacturer recommends a 25-(OH)D blood test and discussing the result with a doctor or pharmacist. If you use other products containing vitamin D or K at the same time, such as multivitamins or cod liver oil, take their amounts into account too. At the recommended use, one container lasts 100 days.

The tablets contain the filler microcrystalline cellulose, starch, cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2) and the anti-caking agent silicon dioxide. The product is manufactured in a facility that also uses ingredients derived from fish. Store at 15–25 °C in a closed container in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight.
