PER4M Whey – whey and milk protein blend with 21–22 g of protein per serving

PER4M Whey Advanced Protein is a protein powder from the sports nutrition brand PER4M Nutrition based on a blend of three protein sources: whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and milk protein concentrate. It also contains skimmed milk powder. One 30 g scoop provides 21–22 g of protein and 102–113 kcal depending on the flavour, with 0.7–1.5 g of fat and 2.9–3.3 g of sugars per serving. The powder is sweetened with sucralose and mixes with water or milk. Four flavours are available at Sportlab: Double Chocolate, Cookies 'N Creme, Raspberry White Chocolate and White Chocolate Hazelnut.

Protein

Whey protein is obtained from milk during cheese making, while milk protein concentrate also contains casein in addition to whey protein. In an isolate, most of the fat and lactose has been separated from the whey. PER4M Whey contains 70–72 g of protein per 100 g, and the protein in one serving accounts for 74–84% of its energy.

How to use?

Mix one scoop (30 g) of powder with 200 ml of water or milk in a shaker or blender until smooth. The manufacturer recommends drinking one serving between meals and another immediately after training or other physical activity, so the usual amount is one to two protein shakes a day. The powder can also be stirred into yoghurt, overnight oats or a smoothie, or used in baking. Take the protein shake into account in your overall daily diet and close the tub properly after use.

Who is it for?

PER4M Whey is suitable for adults who train regularly or for any other reason want to increase the amount of protein they get from their everyday diet. A protein shake is a convenient snack between meals and on training days when a proper meal is not immediately possible. The protein powder can also be used to enrich breakfast, yoghurt or baking. The product contains milk and soy, so it is not suitable for people with a milk protein or soy allergy, or for vegans. People with lactose intolerance should bear in mind that the ingredients include skimmed milk powder and milk protein concentrate.

Flavours and ingredients

All flavours share the same base: whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, milk protein concentrate, skimmed milk powder, flavouring, thickeners (carboxymethyl cellulose and guar gum), sodium chloride, the emulsifier soy lecithin and the sweetener sucralose. The flavours differ as follows: Double Chocolate contains cocoa powder and a colour; Cookies 'N Creme gets its colour from caramel; Raspberry White Chocolate contains raspberry powder and a colour; White Chocolate Hazelnut contains reduced-fat cocoa powder and no colour. The hazelnut taste comes from the flavouring – there are no nuts in the ingredients. The product is made in a facility that also handles cereals containing gluten, egg, celery, mustard, sulphites, fish, crustaceans, peanuts and nuts, so it may contain traces of these allergens. The batch number and best-before date are shown on the packaging.
