OstroVit Keep Sleep Night Protein is a powdered food supplement for preparing a drink to have in the evening before bedtime. One 40 g serving provides 28 g of protein, 220 mg of magnesium (59% of the nutrient reference value), 500 mg of myo-inositol, 140 mg of L-theanine, 4500 FCC units of lactase and 1 mg of melatonin. The protein comes from milk proteins containing casein fractions and from whey protein concentrate, and magnesium is added as magnesium diglycinate. One serving contains 144 kcal, 6.5 g of carbohydrates, of which 2.7 g sugars, and only 0.7 g of fat. The drink has a vanilla milkshake flavour and is sweetened with sweeteners. The 400 g pack contains 10 servings. The product is developed by the Polish manufacturer OstroVit.

Protein, magnesium and melatonin

Protein is one of the macronutrients the body needs every day. Magnesium is a mineral found, for example, in wholegrain products, legumes, nuts and green leafy vegetables. Melatonin is a compound that the human body also produces itself, and its formation is promoted by darkness.

The beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 1 mg of melatonin close to bedtime. For the alleviation of subjective feelings of jet lag, the beneficial effect is obtained with a minimum intake of 0.5 mg of melatonin taken close to bedtime on the first day of travel and on the following few days after arrival at the destination.

How to use?

Dissolve one serving (40 g, or 3.5 scoops) in 300 ml of water and drink it about 30 minutes before bedtime. Use one serving a day and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Use the scoop included in the pack to measure the powder and mix until the powder has fully dissolved. As the product contains melatonin, it must not be used while driving or operating machinery, and it must not be combined with alcohol or other medicines, including herbal preparations. If you use other food supplements containing melatonin or magnesium at the same time, take their amounts into account too.

Lactase is an enzyme that splits milk sugar, or lactose, into glucose and galactose. Myo-inositol is the most stable form of inositol and occurs naturally in fruit, vegetables, nuts and grains. L-theanine is an amino acid found naturally in the leaves of the tea plant. According to the manufacturer, its products are regularly tested in an independent accredited laboratory.
