The RDX leather powerlifting belt is a lever buckle training belt that the manufacturer designed for powerlifters, strongmen and strongwomen, and CrossFit athletes. It is 4 inches (about 10 cm) wide and 10 mm thick and made of sturdy nubuck leather, which according to the manufacturer is durable and retains its shape well. It fastens with an advanced lever clasp designed by RDX, which keeps the belt tight throughout all stages of the lift. The product is accredited by the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) and the International Powerlifting League (IPL) and is also recognised by the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) and the Global Powerlifting Committee (GPC). Sportlab offers the black colour in sizes S, M, L and XL.

Nubuck leather and lever buckle

The outer surface of the belt is nubuck leather – tough leather that keeps its shape even with longer use. The inside has a multi-layer suede leather lining, and the layers are joined with industrial-grade stitching. According to the manufacturer, this construction is designed to withstand cracks, splits and tears. The buckle is made of powder-coated steel and is rust-proof. It is attached to the belt with lightweight but durable screws, so you can change the position of the buckle if needed and set the belt up to your own measurements. The belt has ten precision-placed holes for adjusting the fit.

How to use?

Place the belt around your midsection so that it rests above your hip bones and does not feel restrictive. Inhale slightly, tighten the belt and close the lever buckle. The belt should be tight, but still leave room for your abdomen to expand into it. For squats and deadlifts, the manufacturer recommends tightening the belt so that it cannot be pulled more than about 2.5 cm (1 inch) away from your body. For other exercises, such as the bench press, you should be able to fit two fingers between the belt and your body. The belt must not restrict your breathing. As the buckle is attached with screws, it can be repositioned if needed so that the belt matches your waist size exactly. To find the right size, measure your waist and check the manufacturer’s size chart.
