OstroVit Omega 3-6-9 is a food supplement that combines fish oil, flaxseed oil and sunflower seed oil with added vitamin E in a softgel capsule. One serving is two capsules and provides the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 144 mg), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 96 mg) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, 300 mg). The serving also contains 380 mg of the omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid (LA), 207 mg of the omega-9 fatty acid oleic acid (OA) and 20 mg of vitamin E, which is 167% of the nutrient reference value. The package contains 90 capsules, i.e. 45 daily servings, which last 45 days with regular use. The product is made by the Polish company OstroVit.

Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

What are omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids?

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids: the human body cannot produce them itself, so they must be obtained from the daily diet or, when needed, from food supplements. Alpha-linolenic acid is found mainly in flaxseed oil, while the main source of EPA and DHA is oily sea fish. The fish oil in this product is obtained from Peruvian anchovies. Linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid, is also an essential fatty acid and a component of cell membranes; in this product it comes from sunflower seed oil and flaxseed oil, but it is also found in other vegetable oils such as grapeseed oil. Oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid, is an unsaturated fatty acid whose main dietary source is olive oil; it is also found in rapeseed, hazelnut, sunflower and flaxseed oils. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, and good dietary sources include vegetable oils, nuts and seeds. In this product, vitamin E is present as DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate.

How to use?

Take one serving, i.e. 2 capsules, a day, preferably after a meal, and swallow them with a sufficient amount of water. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. If you also use other food supplements containing fish oil, omega fatty acids or vitamin E, take their amounts into account. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use. With the recommended use, 90 capsules last 45 days.

The capsule shell is made of gelatin, the humectant glycerol and water. One serving contains 800 mg of fish oil, 600 mg of flaxseed oil and 580 mg of sunflower seed oil. Due to its high fish oil content, the product has a fishy smell. The package contains 90 capsules, net weight 117 g. Keep the packaging tightly closed in a dry place at 15–25 °C.
