MUTANT Madness ALL-IN – pre-workout drink powder with caffeine, citrulline malate and creatine

MUTANT Madness ALL-IN is a powdered food supplement from the Canadian sports nutrition brand Mutant that is mixed with water and drunk before training. The manufacturer now calls the product simply ALL-IN and describes it as a fully dosed pre-workout formula: one scoop (25 g) contains a 20.3 g blend of active ingredients, including 8 g of L-citrulline DL-malate, 5 g of creatine monohydrate, 3.2 g of beta-alanine, 2 g of L-leucine, 1 g of taurine and 320 mg of caffeine anhydrous. The formula also provides vitamin B12, folate, calcium and magnesium.

The manufacturer recommends starting with half a scoop (12.5 g) to assess your tolerance to caffeine and, if needed, using a full scoop. According to the label, the tub contains 500 g of powder, which is about 40 half scoops or 20 full scoops. The composition and amounts below apply to the Fruit Punch flavour, for which the manufacturer has published the full composition.

Composition per serving

L-citrulline DL-malate 2:1 is a compound of the amino acid L-citrulline and malic acid in a 2:1 ratio. Creatine monohydrate is creatine bound to one molecule of water. Beta-alanine, taurine, L-tyrosine and L-leucine are amino acids or amino acid-like compounds that are also obtained from ordinary food; the leucine is added as a quick-dissolving, instantised powder. Caffeine is added as caffeine anhydrous. In smaller amounts, the blend contains inositol, eleuthero root extract 38:1 and BioPerine® black pepper fruit extract, which provides piperine. Eleuthero, also known as Siberian ginseng, is a thorny shrub native to north-east Asia.

One scoop (25 g) provides:

• Caffeine – 320 mg (half a scoop: 160 mg)
• L-citrulline DL-malate 2:1 – 8 g
• Creatine monohydrate – 5 g
• Beta-alanine – 3.2 g
• L-leucine and taurine – 2 g and 1 g
• L-tyrosine – 600 mg
• Vitamin B12 – 6 µg (240% NRV)
• Magnesium – 150 mg (40% NRV)

Vitamin B12, folate and magnesium

Even half a scoop provides 3 µg of vitamin B12 (120% NRV), 118 µg of folate as folic acid (59% NRV) and 75 mg of magnesium (20% NRV); a full scoop provides twice as much.

How to use?

The product is intended for healthy adults only. Mix ½–1 scoop (12.5–25 g) with 250–500 ml of water and drink 15–45 minutes before exercise. The first time, use half a scoop or less to assess how you tolerate caffeine. Do not use more than one scoop a day and use the product only occasionally. As a full scoop contains 320 mg of caffeine, do not combine it with coffee, energy drinks or other products containing caffeine or stimulants. Drink plenty of fluid before, during and after exercise. Shake the tub before use so that the powder is evenly mixed, and keep the lid tightly closed.

Who is it for?

MUTANT Madness ALL-IN is suitable for healthy adults (18 years and over) who train regularly, tolerate caffeine well and want a flavoured pre-workout drink with amino acids, creatine, caffeine, vitamins and magnesium. Due to its high caffeine content, the product is not recommended for children or pregnant or breastfeeding women and is not suitable for people sensitive to caffeine. Do not use the product if you have had any heart issues or if you are taking PDE5 inhibitors or nitrates. If you are taking other food supplements or medication, or have a medical condition, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

• Fruit Punch – with flavourings, coloured with red beet powder; sweeteners sucralose and steviol glycosides.
