Mutant Mass – energy-rich carbohydrate and protein powder drink

Mutant Mass is a food supplement in powder form from the Canadian sports nutrition brand Mutant, containing carbohydrates, protein and MCT oil. It is intended for people with high daily energy needs who want to cover part of them with an easy-to-prepare drink. The recommended daily dose is 2 scoops or 140 g of powder, which provides 550 kcal (2289 kJ) of energy, 102 g of carbohydrates, 28 g of protein and 3 g of fat. The 2.27 kg bag contains approximately 16 daily doses. Mutant Mass is made in Canada.

Carbohydrates, six milk proteins and MCT oil

The Mutant Mass carbohydrate blend comes from five sources: waxy maize starch, maltodextrin, fermented pea starch, rice and sweet potato. The protein part, Mutant Mass Pro-Matrix, is made up of six milk proteins: whey protein concentrate, hydrolysed whey protein, whey protein isolate, milk protein concentrate, micellar casein and milk protein isolate. The fats come from fractionated coconut oil (MCT), avocado, flax seed and pumpkin seed. The powder also contains the enzymes lactase and protease, as well as cinnamon and tart cherry. The product is sweetened with sucralose.

The daily dose contains 160 mg of calcium, which is 20% of the nutrient reference value.

How to use?

The daily dose is 140 g or 2 scoops of powder. With a blender, mix the dose with 240–600 ml of cold water, milk or another drink; with a shaker, use more liquid, 240–720 ml. The more liquid you add, the thinner and easier to mix the drink becomes. Always pour the liquid into the container first and then add the powder.

Who is it for?

Mutant Mass is intended for healthy adults aged 18 or older with high daily energy needs – for example, people who train a lot and regularly or lead a very physically active lifestyle and find it hard to cover the energy they need with regular meals. The manufacturer recommends using the product occasionally as part of a normal diet. Consult a doctor before use. The product contains milk and soy, so it is not suitable for people who are allergic to them.

Flavours and pack

Mutant Mass flavours are Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Triple Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Strawberry Banana and Vanilla Ice Cream. The composition differs slightly between flavours: the chocolate flavours contain cocoa, Chocolate Fudge Brownie also contains coffee powder and caramel colour, Strawberry Banana is coloured with red beet powder, and Cookies & Cream contains cookie crumbs with sugar. The powder is packed by weight, not volume, so it may settle during transport and the bag may not look completely full. Store the product in a cool, dry and dark place.
