PER4M Micronised Creatine is a powdered food supplement from the sports nutrition brand PER4M Nutrition, based on creatine monohydrate. Micronised means that the creatine has been milled into finer particles than usual. The tub contains 400 g of powder, enough for 80 servings – one serving is one 5 g scoop.

Sportlab offers an unflavoured version and seven flavoured versions. The unflavoured powder contains nothing but creatine monohydrate, so one serving provides 5 g of creatine monohydrate. In the flavoured versions, each 5 g serving contains 4250 mg of creatine monohydrate plus malic acid, flavouring, the anti-caking agent silicon dioxide, the sweetener sucralose and a colour that depends on the flavour.

Creatine

Creatine is a nitrogen-containing compound that the body produces itself and that is also obtained from food, mainly meat and fish. The most common form in food supplements is creatine monohydrate, which is about 88% creatine. This means that one serving of the unflavoured version provides approximately 4.4 g and one serving of a flavoured version approximately 3.7 g of creatine – in both cases more than 3 g per day.

• Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.

How to use?

Mix one scoop (5 g) with water or juice. The manufacturer's directions have two phases. During the loading phase, take one serving four times a day for five days. Then continue with the maintenance phase, when one serving a day is enough for as long as required. Creatine can be taken before or after exercise. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount.
