Universal Shock Therapy – pre-workout powder with creatine, caffeine and vitamins B6 and B12

Universal Shock Therapy is a pre-workout food supplement in powder form from the American manufacturer Universal Nutrition. It is mixed with a drink and taken about half an hour before training. One 840 g tub contains 42 servings of one 20 g scoop. Each serving provides 3500 mg of creatine monohydrate, 3000 mg of branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), 2650 mg of taurine, 1250 mg of arginine, 500 mg of tyrosine and 200 mg of caffeine, together with vitamins B6 and B12.

The composition and nutrition information below refer to the Green Apple flavour. Grape Ape, Lemonade, Hawaiian Pump and Lemon Burst are also available – their composition, especially the colours, may differ, so please check the package before use.

What does one serving contain?

The Shock Therapy formula is divided into four complexes. The first contains 3500 mg of creatine monohydrate, 1250 mg of free-form arginine, 210 mg of citrulline malate, 15 mg of betaine anhydrous and 0.47 mg of alpha-lipoic acid. The second is made up of amino acids: 2000 mg of L-leucine, 500 mg of L-isoleucine and 500 mg of L-valine (BCAA in a 4:1:1 ratio), 2650 mg of taurine, 180 mg of beta-alanine and 10 mg of L-glutamine.

The third complex contains 500 mg of L-tyrosine, 485 mg of choline bitartrate, 200 mg of caffeine anhydrous and 5 mg each of guarana seed, yerba mate leaf extract and green tea leaf extract. The fourth, 6150 mg complex consists of carbohydrates (maltodextrin and dextrose) and mineral salts – sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, sodium chloride, calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide. One serving contains 6 g of carbohydrates, of which 0.5 g sugars, and 0 g of fat.

How to use?

Mix one scoop (20 g) with about 300 ml of a drink of your choice and drink it 30 minutes before training. Always start with one scoop or less to assess your individual tolerance. Do not take more than two scoops within 24 hours and do not use the product within 6–8 hours of bedtime. Because of the green tea extract, do not take it on an empty stomach or on the same day as other products containing green tea.

Who is it for?

Shock Therapy is intended for healthy adults aged 18 or over who train regularly at high intensity and want a drink with caffeine and creatine before training. As one serving contains 200 mg of caffeine, the product is not suitable for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use the product if you have a known or suspected medical condition or are taking prescription or over-the-counter medication; consult a physician before use. The Green Apple flavour contains the colour carmine (E120), which is derived from insects, so it is not suitable for vegans.

Creatine and vitamins B6 and B12

Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine – one serving (20 g) of this product contains 3500 mg of creatine monohydrate, i.e. approximately 3.1 g of creatine.
