OstroVit Creatine Monohydrate Creapure is a food supplement containing creatine monohydrate in powder form. The product is sold in a 250 g container in three variants: unflavoured, apple-mint and cola-rum. A serving of either type provides 3500 mg creatine monohydrate, of which 3000 mg is creatine. A serving of the unflavoured powder is 3.5 g, or half a scoop, and the container holds 71 servings; a serving of the flavoured powder is 4.2 g, or three quarters of a scoop, and the container holds 59 servings. The product is also suitable for vegans. It is made by the Polish company OstroVit.

Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine. One serving of this product provides 3 g of creatine.

What is creatine monohydrate?

Creatine is a nitrogen-containing compound that occurs naturally in the body. We also obtain creatine from food, mainly animal products such as meat, fish and eggs, and it is also available as a food supplement. Creatine monohydrate is the form of creatine in which each molecule is bound to one water molecule. Structurally it is the simplest form of creatine and the most common one in food supplements. Creapure® is a registered trademark of creatine monohydrate made in Germany. The unflavoured powder contains only creatine monohydrate, while the flavoured variants also contain citric acid, flavourings and the sweetener sucralose, but no sugar or colours.

How to use?

Mix one serving of powder with 100–150 ml of water or juice: 3.5 g (1/2 scoop) of the unflavoured variant or 4.2 g (3/4 scoop) of the flavoured variant. On training days, drink one serving a day either after waking up or after training; on rest days, one serving after waking up. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. If you use other products containing creatine at the same time, take their amounts into account too.

Who is it for?

The powder is also convenient for people who have difficulty swallowing tablets. The product is not intended for children and must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for people with kidney disorders. Do not use the product if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.

Ingredients and storage

The only ingredient of the unflavoured variant is creatine monohydrate; it is manufactured in a facility that also uses ingredients derived from milk, soy and fish. The flavoured variants also contain the acidity regulator citric acid, flavourings and the sweetener sucralose; they may contain traces of several allergens (see ingredients). Store in a dry place at 15–25 °C, away from direct sunlight, and close the container carefully after use so that the powder does not absorb moisture.
